Listener: Wooden Heart

At one time or another we've all built ourselves a wooden heart, haven't we?

If we live long enough on this earth we'll feel we have reason to I suppose.

I've found the saying to be true that the same wooden box that keeps the pain at bay,

also keeps the love out.

For me early rejection precipitated the formation of my wooden heart.

And since then life has been the tearing down and the building back up of those walls.

Being continually vulnerable is life's torturous necessity.

But I won't let these waves wash away my hopes'.

Come on let's wash each other

With tears of joy and tears of grief.

And fold our lives like crashing waves upon this beach.

Come on and sew us together

We're just some tattered rags stained together

We only have what we remember
